With the move to welding technology, our staff grew and grew, 60, 70 colleagues. We quickly realized that Herrmann had to reposition and reorganize itself. It took a long time for us to cement the new structure.” The next push, continues Pfrommer, caused the company to grow to ap- proximately 180 employees. He joined the company at 19, fresh from his apprenticeship. A verita- ble fixture of the company. What must he have already experi- enced at Herrmann Ultraschall? From a small business to a global company – Jürgen Pfrommer has certainly seen it all. “When I started here, there were 33 of us in the company,” says Jürgen Pfrommer. Only the first of now four buildings was there. “At the beginning, this here was a completely different world. Everyone had to be able to do everything: turn, drill, weld, install electrical cabinets, perform start-ups – that would not work anymore today.” The workflows, organization, and internal structures have fundamentally changed: While with only 30 employ- ees everyone knew everything about a project, now various teams work for the customers. “That was a nice and interesting time!” CHANGE AND GROWTH Jürgen Pfrommer came to Herrmann Ultraschall when the boss was still fo- cusing on ultrasonic cleaning.
